[section]Graduation Requirements[/section]
Kettering Fairmont High School graduation requirements of 21.5 credits meet the standards set by the Ohio Department of Education for students who enter the ninth grade for the first time up to July 1, 2010. Students must meet all assessment requirements for his or her graduation class and complete a Student Success Plan.

[section]Ohio Core Graduation Requirements[/section]
Beginning with students who enter ninth grade for the first time on or after July 1, 2010, the requirements for graduation from every public and chartered non-public high school shall include twenty units that are designed to prepare students for college and the workforce. Fairmont High School has integrated the required financial literacy components into two sophomore level semester classes. Either Career & College Readiness or Career Exploration is required for graduation.

Beginning with the 2014-15 academic year, each state university in Ohio (excluding Central State University, Shawnee State University and Youngstown State University) shall admit as an undergraduate student a resident of this state only if the student has successfully completed the Ohio Core curriculum for high school graduation.

[section]Alternative Ohio Graduation Requirements[/section]
Ohio Core does establish alternative methods to earn a high school diploma without completing the CORE curriculum. The requirements are as follows:
[list=unordered][li]The student must complete two years of high school and the student's parent must sign a statement consenting to the child's graduation without completing the Core and acknowledging that the child may not be able to proceed directly to a four-year university (the Ohio Curriculum Choices provision).[/li][li]The student, the parent, and the high school must develop a career plan for the child.[/li][li]The student's high school must provide counseling and support for the student related to the plan.[/li][li]The student successfully completes, at minimum, the curriculum prescribed in current law.[/li][/list]

[section]Diplomas[/section]
Students may earn one of two types of diploma:
[b]Regular Diploma:[/b] This diploma is for students who complete the required curriculum of Fairmont High School and meet all assessment requirements for his or her graduating class and complete a student success plan.

[b]Diploma with Honors:[/b] These include International Baccalaureate Diploma with honors, High School Academic Diploma with Honors and Career-Technical Diploma with Honors. The State of Ohio has adopted new criteria for the Graduating Classes of 2011 and beyond. The chart below shows the details of each of these diplomas.
